I'm incredibly excited to join the Dolphins coaching staff for the 2018 swim season. I currently run the swim program at Knightsen Elementary School and coach with Oakwood Water Polo. Last summer I coached for the Discovery Bay River Otters, and prior to that, have coached for 6 years with the Brentwood Seawolves. I have also coached the Heritage High School swim team and JV boys water polo, as well as with The Terrapins and Aquaknights.
I'm looking forward to coaching rec swimming again. Some of my favorite memories from my youth are my summer swim team memories. And while I loved the awards and thrill of beating my own times, some of the best parts of those summers were the friendships I made and life skills I learned!
As a coach I believe technique is the key. It doesn't matter how fast you go if you're not swimming the stroke correctly. What place you get at the end of the race is irrelevant. What matters is that you improved your time. You have to put in the work at practice to achieve your goals. Keeping kids motivated to continue improving themselves is something I take pride in, and I hope you'll see that reflected in your swimmers as they work with me this year! I'm eager to start our season and look forward to seeing everyone on the pool deck!
I am so excited to start our 2018 Dolphins season! I have a long history with the Dolphins, beginning as a Dolphin swimmer myself at the age of 5. Nine years later, I began my coaching career with the Dolphins, coaching for 12 summers, leading the team as Head Coach for the last 8 of those years. I have also coached 2 years of year-round swimming, 3 years of high school water polo and 2 summers with The Discovery Bay River Otters.
I'm a firm believer in proper technique over speed. I love watching the kids grow as they become more confident and comfortable with their swim skills. I look forward to meeting everyone, seeing our long-time Dolphins again, and to a great 2018 season!
