The Dolphin Swim Club registration fees are as follows:
$385 - 1st swimmer
$365 - 2nd swimmer
$345 - each additional swimmer
$140 - high school swim team swimmers ages 15-18 (instead of fees listed above)
$150 - family worker deposit, refunded at end of season if all work assignments are completed
$25 - per swimmer fundraiser fee
$20 - nonrefundable tryout fee (per family)
$20 - nonrefundable processing fee
Our coaches work with our swimmers to teach each of the swim strokes, as well as dive and flip techniques, at the appropriate age. However, we do not provide swim lessons. New swimmers must be 4 years of age as of April 1st, and must attend a tryout before our pre-season begins, at which time their ability to safely swim across the pool will be evaluated. Our coaches and assistants will be in the water during try-outs for your child's safety.
SWIM SEASON / PRACTICE SCHEDULES
Practices begin in early April and are held in the late afternoon/early evening. During the school year, practices run Mon - Thur. Once school is out for the summer, practices run Mon-Fri. Swimmers are separated by age, and practices run from 30-75 minutes, depending on your swimmer's age. Please see our Calendar page for this season's specific swim practice times. Practices end in early August. Practice times by age groups are listed in the Calendar.
POOL SAFETY POLICIES
Practices are held at the Brentwood Family Aquatic Complex (BFAC), which has a gated pool deck. During practices, parents are welcome to watch their swimmers from the grass area outside the gated pool deck. Many of our parents bring blankets or sports chairs to use during this time. The current City of Brentwood regulations can be found on our Health and Safety page. (During swim meets, families are invited to set up or share "camps" on the pool deck, as space permits.)
We will go over specific equipment at Parent Orientation Night, but your swimmer will need a swim suit for practices, swim goggles, a swim cap, swim fins, kickboard... and towels! We will have many of these items (no towels) available for purchase at either Parent Orientation or during the first few weeks of practice. We will also have Dolphins team suits, team swim caps and other team apparel available for purchase at those times. Swimmers may wear their own swim suits for practices. We encourage our swimmers to wear the team suit and cap for meets.
SWIMMER PARTICIPATION REQUIREMENTS
We require all swimmers to participate in Time Trials, held in May, to establish their baseline swim times. Each swimmer is required to sign up for a minimum of 5 swim meets per season (see handbook for this season's requirement). Invitational meets are scheduled separately, and participation is optional, with an additional fee to join.
PARENT WORK REQUIREMENTS
We are a parent-run sports team and for this reason, we require each family to be prepared to work one volunteer shift at each meet in which their swimmer participates. Depending on the particular job assignment, your work period may be prior to the meet, during the length of the meet (with relief subs available for breaks), or after the meet. You will have the opportunity to inform our Meet Directors of your job preferences and they will do their best to accommodate your preferences and needs.
Regular season swim meets are held on Wednesday evenings and Saturday mornings, and usually run 3-4 hours. Invitational meets are scheduled separately, and participation is optional, with an additional fee to join. Please see our Calendar page for this season's swim meet and event dates.
Championships is a 2-day event held on a Saturday and Sunday at the end of the season, and all swimmers are required to participate in the event.
SWIM MEET ESSENTIALS
Many of our families find the following items most useful for an enjoyable, stress-free swim meet: pop-up shade, sports chairs, blankets for kids on the ground, sleeping bag, swim parka, sweats or robe when it's cold, spray bottle for misting when it's hot, ice chest with healthy snacks and drinks, extra towels, extra swim cap, extra goggles, things to pass the time between swim events (games, toys, books, etc), sunscreen, black sharpie for marking your swimmer's events, safety pin for wardrobe issues, cash for concession stand... and your camera!
There are no concession stands open during the team practices. Concession stands are open during swim meets, both at our home pool and at all away pools. Parents are welcome to bring any food/drink of their own to both practices and meets. Alcoholic beverages and smoking are not permitted at any of the pool sites.
Special Considerations for COVID-19
As we learn more about the restrictions and regulations imposed by the local and federal health authorities, our policies may be updated.
The current City of Brentwood regulations can be found on our Health and Safety page.
